Dr. James Hanna as the Organization's 78th President

NEW YORK (July 27, 2020) – The New York State Podiatric Medical Association (NYSPMA) names Lockport-based podiatrist, Dr. James Hanna, as the 78th president of the association.
Dr. Hanna, who succeeds Buffalo-based podiatrist Dr. Daniel B. Keating, was installed as president on June 23 during a virtual Zoom ceremony.

Dr. Hanna has been in practice in the Western New York area for over 25 years and has served on the NYSPMA Board of Trustees since 2013. Dr. Hanna has held numerous leadership positions and during his presidency, he will continue to focus on advocating for the expansion of podiatry’s critical role in preventative care.

“I feel very lucky to be able to lead NYSPMA this year. Serving on the Board of Trustees for the past several years has allowed me to work alongside some of the smartest and the most dedicated people I have ever known,” said Dr. Hanna. “The knowledge that I have gained from them will be invaluable this year. Though my name may occupy the president’s placard, NYSPMA

continues to be a team effort.  The successes that I anticipate for the coming year will be shared by many.”

During his presidency, Dr. Hanna’s efforts will focus on:

“Now more than ever, it’s extremely important to promote the vital role that podiatrists play as part of the overall healthcare team. Podiatric care is essential to patients with diabetes and other chronic conditions as it not only leads to an improved health outcome but can also reduce the need for hospitalizations and its associated risk of contracting the novel coronavirus,” said Hanna.
