CMS Releases Proposed 2016 Fee Schedule Rule

CMS recently unveiled the CY 2016 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule(MPFS) proposed rule. Much like last year, podiatrists on average should expect to see no change to their estimated total allowed charges in 2016.

This is the first MPFS since the passage of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA), which repealed the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula and mandated the implementation of the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). According to CMS, the “proposal includes a number of provisions focused on person-centered care, and continues the Administration’s commitment to transform the Medicare program to a system based on quality and healthy outcomes.”
